Perfecting Your Smile with Porcelain Veneers

If you have teeth that are misshapen, crooked, or severely stained, veneers from Burgess Dental could give you the smile you've always wanted.

What Are Veneers and How Do They Help?

Veneers, typically made of porcelain or plastic, are a thin cover that is attached to the front of your existing teeth to alter their shape or color. Veneers are cemented to teeth with uneven surfaces such as chipped, unevenly spaced, or oddly shaped teeth. They also have a longer life expectancy than bonding, and resist permanent staining from coffee and cigarette smoke. Call (901) 756-8111 today to schedule your veneer consultation.

Veneer Procedure

Your veneer procedure will consist of the following three appointments:
  • Diagnosis & Treatment
    • After an initial oral examination, your doctor will explain your options for correcting any permanent stains, cracked teeth, or other tooth disfiguration that is a candidate for veneers.
  • Preparation
    • During this appointment your teeth are buffed in preparation for attaching the veneer to your teeth's surface. Roughly 1 millimeter of the tooth's surface is removed. Anesthetic may be required. We'll also get a mold of your teeth to send to our laboratory where your veneers will be created. This visit will last between 2 to 3 hours. For certain patients, no preparation of the teeth may be necessary. Please call and talk to a member of our committed staff for more information.
  • Bonding
    • During your final visit, we will temporarily place the newly fabricated veneers to your teeth. Before permanent attachment, we'll be able to move and/or adjust the color to match your existing teeth. We then apply a special cement to the veneer, reattach them to your teeth, and solidify the bond with a curing light.

Post Veneer Procedure

There is a two-week time frame of adjustment after your veneer procedure. During this time your teeth may change in size or shape. It is also extremely important to brush and floss every day. After those two weeks, you'll visit us for a follow-up to make sure everything is doing great.
